Leveling Requirements

The specifications for how flat a floor must be before installing a floating floor can vary based on the type of flooring and the manufacturer's guidelines. Generally, the subfloor should be flat within 3mm over a 2-meter radius.

If the subfloor is not level, preparation may be necessary prior to installation. This could involve using a leveling compound or self-leveling screed to address any high or low spots. In some instances, installing a plywood subfloor over the existing one may be required to create a level surface for the floating floor.

It’s crucial to adhere to the manufacturer’s guidelines for the specific flooring being installed to ensure a successful installation and to avoid any potential warranty issues. Consulting with a flooring professional is also recommended to confirm that the subfloor is properly prepared for the floating floor installation.

Removal and Disposal of Existing Floor Coverings

Please ensure that all furniture is removed prior to the installation process. If you are unable to remove it, we can arrange this for you at a small cost. Please contact us for details.

Repairs

When it comes to flooring repairs in Melbourne, whether it's vinyl, engineered timber, hybrid, or carpet, it's essential to address issues promptly to maintain both the aesthetic and functionality of your home or business. For vinyl flooring, common repairs often involve dealing with scratches, tears, or adhesive failures. These can be easily fixed with patching kits or by replacing damaged sections without needing to replace the entire floor. Engineered timber, with its layered construction, requires professional repair when dealing with water damage or deep scratches. The good news is that many engineered timber floors can be sanded and refinished to restore their original look. Hybrid flooring, known for its durability and water-resistant qualities, typically needs repairs when the locking system is damaged or if there’s an issue with expansion gaps. A qualified technician can quickly remedy these issues to avoid further damage and maintain the integrity of your floor.

Carpet repairs, on the other hand, range from patching small burns or tears to stretching out areas that have become loose over time. Melbourne residents often find that with the right tools, minor carpet repairs can be done at home, but for more significant damage, it’s worth calling in a professional. Many carpet repair services offer stretching and re-seaming, which can extend the life of your flooring. In all cases, the key to a successful repair is to act quickly—whether it’s a spill, wear and tear, or damage from furniture. With Melbourne’s variable weather, from hot summers to cold, wet winters, choosing the right flooring material is essential for longevity. With the right care and timely repairs, you can ensure your floors continue to look great and function well for years to come.
